Embracing Comfort and Coziness
Cafe good & goody, situated in Gimhae, Republic of Korea, underwent a renewal project with the aim of offering “Only good things for your ordinary life.” Designed by design by 83, this coffee shop was envisioned as a comfortable and inviting space that patrons would want to frequent regularly.
Striking Design Choices
To overcome its location slightly removed from downtown and major roads, the exterior of Cafe good & goody was finished in a bold dark wine color, creating a striking visual impact. This choice was made to draw attention and entice visitors to explore what lies within.
Welcoming Interior
Upon entering through the main entrance on the first floor, visitors are greeted by a refreshing mint-colored interior. The layout features a counter that wraps around comfortably and a round sharing table, inviting guests to gather and socialize. The spacious kitchen area, strategically placed alongside the counter, caters to the needs of a brunch cafe, enhancing functionality.
Thoughtful Details
The terracotta brick tile finish adds texture and warmth to the space, emphasizing the volume of the mass and creating a sense of unity. Thoughtful design elements, such as the pendant lighting above the sharing table and the handrail of the staircase leading to the second floor, complement the curvature of the space, contributing to a harmonious ambiance.
Comfortable Retreat
The second floor of Cafe good & goody is designed to provide a comfortable retreat where patrons can enjoy their coffee in peace. With terracotta brick tile flooring mirroring that of the first floor and accented with mint-colored paint, the overall design maintains a sense of harmony and cohesion throughout the space.
