Located in Maia, Portugal, the MOOD – Medicina Dentária clinic, designed by Tsou Arquitectos, offers a tranquil and efficient space for dental care. With approximately 80 square meters on the ground floor and additional basement space accessible via stairs, the clinic blends functionality with aesthetic appeal.
Spatial Configuration
The clinic features two interconnected dental offices alongside support areas such as water closets and locker rooms, as well as reception and waiting spaces. Careful consideration has been given to the layout, with dental offices strategically positioned next to generous south-facing windows, maximizing natural light. Public areas like the reception and waiting rooms are oriented towards the expansive east-facing window, while technical and support spaces are situated in the interior.
Design Elements
Central to the clinic’s design is a partition wall that delineates public and private zones, serving both functional and aesthetic purposes. This sculptural wall, adorned with wooden cladding, integrates concealed doors, adding to the seamless and sophisticated ambiance. The chosen materials convey a sense of comfort and well-being, with tactile and natural finishes enhancing the overall aesthetic.
Material Selection
Visual comfort and hygiene are prioritized through carefully selected materials. Sand-colored vinyl flooring provides both visual appeal and durability, meeting the clinic’s requirements for resistance and cleanliness. Private areas feature washable decorative wall coverings, maintaining continuity with the clinic’s aesthetic vision.
Lighting and Atmosphere
Soft ambient lighting, recessed throughout the clinic, contributes to a calming atmosphere conducive to patient comfort. Diaphanous curtains adorn the front window, allowing natural light to filter through while preserving privacy. These design elements collectively contribute to a welcoming and serene environment, enhancing the overall patient experience.
In essence, the MOOD Dental Medicine Clinic exemplifies a harmonious blend of functionality, aesthetics, and comfort, reflecting Tsou Arquitectos’ commitment to creating spaces that prioritize both physical and emotional well-being.
