Enhancing Connectivity and Sustainability Dongguan Slow-Traffic System

Enhancing Connectivity and Sustainability Dongguan Slow-Traffic System

Introduction

In response to the rapid growth of Dongguan’s manufacturing industry and the influx of talent, eLandscript Studio has spearheaded the Dongguan Slow-Traffic System, a transformative project aimed at improving connectivity and sustainability in the region.

Vision and Analysis

With the vision of “Social Loop & Green Necklace,” the project addresses three key aspects: disconnected points, urban parcels with untapped potential, and fragmented green corridors. By integrating vertical lift cores with retail spaces, the plan seeks to revitalize urban areas and enhance Dongguan’s overall functionality.

Social Loop

The 1.5-kilometer-long Social Loop links popular destinations in Dongguan’s core areas, fostering connectivity between Central Park, Civic Center Phase I and Phase III, Minying IFC, and other key landmarks. Bridge No. 2, spanning 103.5 meters, features a continuous steel beam structure and a striking 10-meter arch supported by 54 cables. Flower boxes and viewing platforms further enhance the pedestrian experience, providing spaces for relaxation and contemplation.

Green Necklace

The Green Necklace, stretching 1.5 kilometers, seamlessly connects Central Park, the Xigualing area, and other natural landmarks. This tree canopy bridge serves as a vital link between the city core and the surrounding mountainous terrain, offering residents and visitors alike an immersive experience in nature.

Accessibility and Integration

Entrances to the Green Necklace in the Xigualing area are designed to be accessible, with routes carefully planned to preserve existing trees and incorporate amenities such as pergola trellises and subway lifts. The project prioritizes convenience and functionality, aiming to enrich the lives of local residents while promoting sustainable transportation alternatives.

Conclusion

The Dongguan Slow-Traffic System represents a bold step towards creating a more connected, sustainable, and vibrant urban environment. Through innovative design and careful planning, eLandscript Studio has laid the groundwork for a future where pedestrians can seamlessly navigate Dongguan’s bustling streets while enjoying the beauty of its natural surroundings.
