Innovative Design: Hello Monday Coworking Space Lounge by Bananafish

Innovative Design: Hello Monday Coworking Space Lounge by Bananafish

Introduction

Hello Monday is a share-office brand in Seoul, Korea, known for its innovative workspace designs. Bananafish, the architectural firm behind the project, was tasked with creating unique interiors for the C25 building, located in the Seongsu-dong district of Seoul.

Concept and Inspiration

The aim of Hello Monday is to offer a fresh workspace experience within the daily routine. The C25 building, situated amidst the industrial remnants of Seongsu-dong, presents a unique opportunity to blend modern design with regional character. Bananafish drew inspiration from the area’s history, which included the production of handmade shoes, wigs, steel products, and prints in the 1970s.

Interior Design Approach

The interior design of C25 focused on creating functional spaces across multiple floors. The 9th floor features a reception hall and lounge, the 10th floor houses a shared kitchen area, and the 11th floor offers a shared studio space. Despite space constraints on the 9th floor, Bananafish creatively designed a unified lounge area by incorporating a large bar table as a focal point.

Sustainable Elements

To maintain the building’s connection to its industrial past, Bananafish used eco-friendly fiber panels to craft iconic furniture pieces. The double-layer finish of the furniture panels highlights the abandoned factory aesthetic while adding visual interest. The surrounding kitchen and studio spaces feature minimalistic designs with concrete-inspired ceramic finishes and white-toned furniture.

Versatile Spaces

The 11th floor of C25 boasts a rooftop garden and a greenhouse-style multipurpose room. Furniture on this floor, including tables and chairs made from recycled fiber panels, is designed to be modular and adaptable. This flexibility allows for various event setups, from dining halls to lecture spaces, enhancing the floor’s functionality and appeal.

Dynamic Lighting

One of the standout features of the 11th floor is its wall shelves made from metal frames and color-glass shelves. These shelves create a captivating interplay of light and shadow as sunlight filters through the glasshouse, casting ever-changing patterns and colors throughout the space.

Conclusion

The Hello Monday Coworking Space Lounge at C25 exemplifies Bananafish’s innovative approach to interior design. By blending sustainability, functionality, and regional inspiration, the project offers a refreshing workspace experience that celebrates Seongsu-dong’s industrial heritage while embracing modernity and flexibility.
