Yeongwol Jongtaek, a newly completed traditional Hanok hotel in Yeongweol, South Korea, represents a harmonious blend of heritage and modern hospitality. Spanning an expansive floor area of 16,332 m², the hotel comprises 78 buildings housing 137 rooms, along with cultural and recreational facilities. Designed by Listen Communication, Yeongwol Jongtaek stands as the first private space of The Hanok Heritage House.

Traditional Craftsmanship Meets Innovation

To ensure the highest quality, the architects employed innovative techniques, including wood drying equipment developed in-house. By using a microwave method, they achieved optimal moisture levels in the wood, enhancing durability and longevity. While honoring traditional Hanok elements such as screens, modern materials like European insect screens were seamlessly integrated to maintain authenticity without compromising comfort.

Immersive Wood Experience

Upon entering a Hanok room, guests are enveloped in the subtle aroma of wood, creating a unique sensory experience. The owner’s commitment to authenticity is evident in every detail, from premium bed mattresses to meticulously crafted interiors. Each room offers breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery, ensuring a memorable and restful stay for guests.

Thoughtful Design for Privacy and Comfort

The ground floor layout prioritizes privacy, with two guest rooms flanking a central lounge area. Careful consideration was given to the placement of each building to maximize scenic views. Cutting-edge IoT technology enhances the guest experience, offering warmth and comfort through fabric, wood, and lighting systems controlled by sensors.

Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

The basement level features a range of amenities, including a living room, kitchen, sauna, study, media room, and winery. Traditional Korean materials and craftsmanship are reimagined for modern use, infusing the space with rich aesthetic appeal. External public spaces include a terrace garden and infinity pool, providing opportunities for leisure and relaxation.
