Casa Brasileira Apartment, nestled in the historic Asa Sul neighborhood of Brasília, Brazil, underwent a radical transformation led by Umdiedro Arquitetura in 2022. Situated in a block inaugurated by President Juscelino Kubitschek himself in 1960, this 110m² apartment now epitomizes contemporary living while celebrating the clients’ love for Brasília. The redesign aimed to modernize the space while preserving its heritage, resulting in a colorful and cozy haven for the young couple.

Vibrant Changes and Strategic Design

Every aspect of the apartment received a vibrant makeover, accompanied by structural changes to enhance functionality. The kitchen, one bedroom, and two bathrooms were revamped to create a modern and functional layout that resonates with the clients’ origins. Color played a pivotal role in delineating different spaces, with blue defining the kitchen, yellow accentuating the tiles, wood adorning the dining room, and gray enveloping the living room and office areas.

Creative Solutions and Thoughtful Details

The living room underwent a radical transformation, with walls rearranged to create lateral space and accommodate a counter, perfect for entertaining guests. The former kitchen now houses a charming dining area with picturesque views of the treetops. Thoughtful details, such as highlighting the exposed hydraulic installation with vibrant red accents, add character to the space. Even the powder room received a total makeover, featuring a unique greenish-blue coating and Provencal-style sink inspired by the clients’ global experiences.

Minimalist Intimate Retreat

In the intimate area reserved for the couple, functionality and minimalism take center stage. The old bathroom and service area were repurposed to create a spacious closet, while the master suite’s bathroom underwent a relocation. Neutral tones dominate this space, with gray walls, floors, and ceilings complemented by brushed granite and black accents, creating a serene retreat that reflects the couple’s identity.
